Community guidelines
In short
- Comment as you would in a class or a work meeting: respectfully, on topic, no spam.
- Nothing illegal, no hate, no harassment, no other people's personal data and no content that isn't yours.
- If you see something that shouldn't be there, tap “Report” or use the form below. A person will review it.
- If we remove something of yours, we'll tell you why and you can challenge it.
This summary helps you find your way; it doesn't replace the full text.
1. Where they apply
To everything users post for others to see: comments on the blog and in lessons, votes and likes. Private things (your notes, notebooks, chats with the AI) aren't moderated, but they can't be used for anything illegal either.
2. What isn't allowed
- Illegal content under EU or Croatian law: incitement to hatred or violence, threats, glorifying terrorism, child sexual abuse material, defamation, scams, selling illegal products.
- Harassment and personal attacks, whether on the team or on anyone else.
- Other people's personal data (phone numbers, addresses, photos) without their permission.
- Content that isn't yours without permission: copyrighted texts, code, photos or videos.
- Spam and unsolicited advertising, misleading or malicious links, repeated self-promotion.
- Impersonating another person or The Mariscal.
- Sexually explicit or violent content.
- Fake or automated accounts used to comment or vote.
3. How we moderate
- Comments go live straight away and we review them when someone reports them or when we come across them.
- We don't use automated systems that decide to delete content: a person always makes the call. Comments are automatically translated into the site's other languages, and the translation may contain mistakes.
- What we can do: hide or delete the content, limit who can see it, stop that account from posting for a while or, if it's serious or keeps happening, suspend or close the account.
- We act proportionately: we take into account how serious it is, whether it was intentional, whether it's repeated, and everyone's rights (including freedom of expression).
4. Report content
Anyone, with or without an account, can tell us about content they think is illegal or breaks these guidelines (art. 16 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065, the DSA): with the “Report” button on each comment or with this form. So that we can act, tell us where it is (the link), why you think it's illegal or against the guidelines, and your name and email (unless it's child sexual abuse material, which you can report without identifying yourself).
We'll confirm we've received your report, a person will review it without delay and we'll tell you what we decided. If the content puts someone's life or safety at risk, we inform the authorities (art. 18 DSA).
5. If we take action on your content
We'll email you a statement of reasons (art. 17 DSA): what we did and from when, the facts behind it, whether it followed someone else's report, whether we consider the content illegal (and under which law) or against these guidelines (and which one), and how you can challenge it.
6. How to challenge a decision
Reply to the email with the decision or write to hey@themariscal.com within 6 months. Where possible, someone who didn't make the original decision reviews it, and we'll get back to you. If we were right, we'll explain why; if not, we'll reverse it. You can also go to court or complain to Croatia's Digital Services Coordinator, Hrvatska regulatorna agencija za mrežne djelatnosti (HAKOM) (www.hakom.hr).
7. Points of contact
For authorities and users (arts. 11 and 12 DSA): hey@themariscal.com, in Croatian, English or Spanish.
